NCT (엔시티)

NCT (엔시티) is the newest and the latest boy group concept. A short term for Neo Culture Technology, it is described as having an unlimited number of members. Making the dreams possible to many dreamers around the world, the members are limitless and are promoted in many different sub-units. Today, the main sub-units are: NCT U, NCT 127 and NCT Dream. Subsequent units are expected to debut in China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. They are under SM Entertainment.

NCT U consists of 6 members:
  • Taeil (real name: Moon Tae Il, age 23) - Main Vocalist
  • Taeyong (real name: Lee Tae Yong, age 22) - Main Rapper, Lead Dancer, Vocalist, Visual
  • Doyoung (real name: Kim Dong Young, age 21) - Main Vocalist
  • Ten (real name: Chittaphon Leechaiyapornku, age 21) - Main Dancer, Rapper, Vocalist
  • Jaehyun (real name: Jung Yoon Oh, age 20) - Lead Vocalist
  • Mark (real name: Mark Lee, age 18) - Lead Rapper, Vocalist, Maknae
NCT 127 consists of 9 members:

NCT Awards, fun facts, and trivia:
  • The first unit of NCT, NCT U, was introduced on April 4, 2016 with six members.
  • On July 1, 2016 S.M. Entertainment announced NCT's second unit, NCT 127. NCT 127 is based in Seoul, with the number 127 representing the longitudinal coordinates of Seoul.
  • On August 18, 2016, the company announced that NCT's third unit would be called NCT Dream.
  • NCT 127 received "Best Newcomer" awards from the Mnet Asian Music Awards, the Golden Disk Awards and the 2016 Seoul Music Awards.
  • On February 14, 2017, NCT Dream won 1st place on the 100th episode of SBS MTV's The Show. This marks the first ever music show win for a NCT unit.
  • NCT Dream was chosen as the official ambassador for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea.

South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK) (Hangul: 대한민국, Hanja: 大韓民國, IPA) often referred to as Korea and the "Land of the Morning Calm", is a semi-presidential republic in East Asia, located in the southern half of the Korean Peninsula. Its capital is Seoul.

Korea is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, first inhabited as early as the Lower Paleolithic. After the Gojoseon period, Three Korean Kingdoms period ran from 57 BC until Silla's triumph over Goguryeo in 668, which marked the beginning of the North and South States period of Unified Silla in the South and Balhae in the North. Following the unification of North and South States period under Goryeo 936 AD. Korea went through the Goryeo and Joseon Dynasty as one nation until the end of the Korean Empire in 1910. After liberation and division, South Korea was established in 1948 and has since become one of the two full democracies in Asia. Following the Korean War, the South Korean economy grew significantly, transforming the country into a major global economy. South Korea's economic growth is known as the Miracle on the Han River, and South Korea today is considered one of the Four Asian Tigers. South Korea has an international outlook with memberships in the United Nations, WTO, OECD and G-20 major economies. It is also a founding member of APEC and the East Asia Summit, being a major non-NATO ally of the United States.

South Korea is a developed country. It has the fourth-largest economy in Asia and a High-income OECD member, classified as an Advanced economy by the CIA and IMF. Today, it is among the world's fastest growing advanced economies and is leading the Next Eleven nations; its economic success serves as a role model for many developing countries. South Korea has a high-tech and futuristic infrastructure, and is a world leader in technologically advanced goods such as electronics, automobiles, ships, machinery, petrochemicals and robotics, headed by Samsung, POSCO, and Hyundai Heavy Industries. Since the 21st century, South Korea's modern culture has become popular in Asia and beyond in a phenomenon known as the Korean wave.
